Video Clip: Rabia Z Hijab Style Tips

There is also an article and photo gallery to accompany the video. Hat tip to Mariam Sobh of Hijabtrendz for first alerting her readers to the initial article : ) If you want to stay on top of all things Rabia Z friend her on Facebook.

I’ve become a fan of the jersey hijab style lately. Although, I find because of my rounder face that I have to work to add a little bit of volume to the jersey hijab-as it tends to cling. When I wear jersey material as hijab I use a flower clip that I made myself after watching Hegab Rehab’s instructional video.

Which styles do you like, amigas?

Carma Koma!

Yes! They’ve done it. Structured pieces. Feminine, yet strong silhouettes.

Ladies, I do believe that Carma Koma is a part of the future of plus size fashion. They have avoided all the cliches of what designers think plus size women should be wearing & have plunged us headlong into a world of sophistication & fun.

I am loving the long tops and tunics. And what they do to black is simply A-MAZING!
See for yourself.

I L-O-V-E this grey tube scarf. Put a full underscarf underneath and yup- that’s some stylish hijab!

The Pant

Bold color and feminine softness.

Flower Power: Inspired by Lady Day

Billy Holiday rocked a flower in her hair like nobody’s business:

(One of my favorite photos in which I imagine her dress as a blinged-out abaya! )

Etsy shops Enchantedly Yours and Autumn Oaks Designs are sure to bring romance and softness to your wardrobe with their handmade flower accessories.

Enchantedly Yours’ flower hair clips and headbands are perfectly adaptable for hair or scarf:

Pink & Lime Green:

Open rose with pearl center:

Slip this satin handband over a fave black hijab for a nighttime look.

I’m in love with this oversized rust orange flower

Style Remix: Double Scarfing

Fashion blogger and online boutique owner Ange of Hegab Rehab posted about using a double scarf look to brighten up a plain outfit. Well- I decided to double scarf for another reason. I was torn between wearing two hijabs.

The dress I chose for the day was anything but plain (deep purple- velour- empire waist) but I was torn between going all matchy-matchy with my purple Bint Qamar scarf or wearing my new fave-a crinkly floral Target find.

I opted for both-using the purple for my hijab and the floral for an accent. See below.
(Um, -perdoname for the strange glow-I took the picture on my cheap-o cell. A sista’s waiting for that upgrade. ; )

This Just In!!! Walmart’s Pretty Spring HiJaBs

Ran to Walmart to get a new bathroom scale and stumbled upon these super pretty spring hijabs. What I love about them: The awesome color and crochet lines that decorate the ends & middle of the fabric. And yeah, they’re only five dollars!

Simply Beautiful Braids

I love the look and feel of braided hair. Twist braids together-intertwine ribbon-insert real or fake flowers and your hair has become art. Frida Kahlo took this to another level.

Yesterday in the supermarket I was style stalking. You know what I mean-you see another woman with a look that screams original and beautiful and you kind of follow her around. Well actually I was loc stalking. This women had dark gorgeous locs flowing down her back. And you know what she did?

She had braided sections of them together and tied them into a ponytail with a burnt orange ribbon. Super cute. Super simple and elegantly understated.

I love braided hair because when you take them out you have a whole new hair texture. I love braids because they are demure. I love braided hair because it is just pretty.
